On January 29, Denys Brylov, co-founder of the NGO ‘Dialogue in Action’, took part in the presentation of the first Ukrainian translation of the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together. The document was signed on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tayyeb.

The event was organized by the Commission of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) for Interconfessional and Interreligious Relations. It took place at the UGCC Patriarchal Center in Kyiv with the participation of the Head of the Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk). The published edition is trilingual – Ukrainian, English, and Arabic – making the Document accessible to a Ukrainian audience for the first time.

In his speech, Denys Brylov outlined the historical context of Christian-Muslim dialogue in Ukraine and highlighted the importance of the Nostra Aetate declaration (1965) for the development of the Human Fraternity Document. He also focused on the current state of interreligious cooperation in Ukraine, paying special attention to initiatives carried out by ‘Dialogue in Action’ in partnership with representatives of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and the Muslim community.
