The Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs at Georgetown University has published an updated version of its Ukraine country profile as part of the Strategic Religious Engagement Hub project. The material first appeared on the website back in 2023, and has now been substantially expanded and updated by Dialogue in Action co-founders Tetiana Kalenychenko and Denys Brylov, together with researcher Aidan Houston and Berkley Center Senior Research Fellow Peter Mandaville.

The updated profile offers a detailed overview of Ukraine's religious landscape - from confessional demographics and the role of religion in public life to the legal status of various churches. Particular attention is given to the religious dimension of the Russia-Ukraine war: the historical roots of the tension between the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the question of autocephaly, and recent legislative and social developments - including the law banning the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine and subsequent changes to the UOC's status.

The profile also offers new forecasts regarding the possible transformation of the UOC's role on the international stage and the prospects for dialogue between Ukraine's Orthodox jurisdictions.
