The second module of the certificate program “Psychological Support at the Basis of Spiritual Service” was held last week at the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy in Lutsk.

Over the course of four days, participants engaged in lectures, discussions, and hands-on exercises, gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in providing psychological support during times of trauma and crisis. The module covered the following topics:

  • Psychology of Crisis States (facilitators: Olena Kopina and Anna Dovbyk)
  • Psychology of Religion (facilitator: Denys Bryliov)
  • Comparative Pastoral Care (facilitator: Dmytro Fedorchak)
  • Introduction to Psychiatry (psychiatrist: Andrii Mukhomorov)
  • Post-Crisis Recovery Practices (facilitator: Anna Dovbyk)
  • Bioethics (presented by the Rector of Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy, Fr. Volodymyr Vakin).

The module concluded with a guided tour of the Academy led by Fr. Volodymyr, followed by a walk through Lutsk’s landmarks.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the team of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy and especially to its Rector, Fr. Volodymyr Vakin, for their warm hospitality and invaluable contribution to the program. Special thanks also go to all participants for their engagement, openness, and commitment to fostering positive change in their communities.

The third module of the program will take place in January 2026, and we look forward to the next meeting.

The “Psychological Support at the Basis of Spiritual Service” program carries dual certification and can be applied within broader academic studies or as professional development. It is accredited by the Academic Councils of both the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy (Lutsk) and the Ukrainian Humanitarian Institute (Bucha).
