The second module of the certificate program "Community Building and Effective Engagement" was held on May 18-20 at the Ukrainian institute of arts and sciences (Bucha). This time, the focus was on trauma-informed approaches, memory, and the role of religion in the context of conflict and peacebuilding.

Over the course of three days, we combined theory with practical exercises, discussions, and reflection sessions. During the second module, participants explored the following topics:

  • Trauma-informed approaches to peacebuilding
  • Memory work and memorialization in peacebuilding
  • Circle practices and their application
  • Theologies of peace and war
  • Religion and conflict

We also dedicated time to facilitating a Circle together with participants, while the final session focused on collective reflection and closing insights.

The second module was facilitated by the Dialogue in Action team: Olena Kopina, Dmytro Fedorchak, Anna Dovbyk, Taras Dyatlyk, and Denys Brylov.

We are grateful to all participants for their willingness to engage deeply in learning, dialogue, and collective reflection. We look forward to seeing you at the next module!

We would also like to thank the Ukrainian institute of arts and sciences and especially Liudmyla Shtanko for their consistently warm welcome and support. We are equally grateful to the Robert Bosch Foundation for supporting the program and for their trust in our work.

The "Community Building and Effective Engagement" program offers dual certification and can be used as part of other academic studies or for professional development purposes. It is certified by the Academic Councils of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy (Lutsk) and the Ukrainian institute of arts and sciences (Bucha).
